The twin staircases of the Trustees’ Office spiral to the third floor, demonstrating both remarkable craftsmanship in the woodworking, especially given the tools available to them at the time, and forward thinking in the planning. Designed primarily for functionality, the staircases, which are unique within the scope of Shaker architecture, are also aesthetically pleasing from any angle.
